This is simply No. 7 – I have found that at times painting titles / names lead the painting and I would rather take the piece to where it would naturally wish to go. Although one title that has stayed with me throughout is ‘A Road Less Travelled’. This piece measures 60 x 60 cm and is painted on a deep edge canvas. I have used oil, modern day tempera and numerous glazes. No. 7 is nearing completion and will be available to buy soon. If you require any further information please message me via the contact page.
Storm Rising
I am delighted to be uploading my new piece ‘Storm Rising’. It is a rich, textured oil painting – moody and dramatic. I love painting our beautiful lands, but here having added a tree it greatly reminds me of ‘Shelter from Storm’. It is a small painting, approximately 30 x 20 cm – I had many requests during COS ’15 for smaller pieces so I have a further 4 in the pipeline. I have also been working on several new larger pieces and enhancing some older ones. All to be uploaded soon.
As always if you require any further information or require a high res PDF please do not hesitate to contact me.
Journey I
Journey I has been significantly enhanced and is now available on Artfinder. The painting measures 20 x 20 cm and is rich with texture and colour. Contact me direct or visit my shop.
August news
I will continue to develop work using glazes and tempera on large format deep edge canvas. COS ’15 and “Resplendent Lands” series was a great success with sales and interest for new pieces. I am working on commissions and have plans to start a new coastal mixed media painting influenced by our recent visit to Leigh-on-Sea and Westcliff-on-Sea. The tempera grassa will work beautifully with these scenes enabling me to produce work that is both vivid and vibrant.
Rain in July
What a summer it has been and where has it gone? Talking about summer, how could I possibly not mention the weather? It’s been totally dire with rain and flooding around my studio. During July, only one week into COS ’15, I was flooded out and it took both Neil and I six hours and 498 buckets to clear all the water, but thankfully no damage. The only happy chappies during this chaos were our two pooches, Miya 3.5 years and Kai just 2 months old German Shepherds who invented a new form of mud sport. The saddest thing was the destruction and demise of our freshly laid turf. As the say there are worse things in life, but I must admit this relentless rain is beginning to dampen my spirits 🙂
COS 2015
There is now only one week to the start of Cambridge Open Studios 2015 and not unlike many of the 270 participating artists most preparations are either complete, well under way or, for one reason or another, experiencing slight panic. The turf has been laid, stepping stones set and room has been painted white covering splatters from regular moments of excitement; all that remains is to hang the finished pieces on Friday afternoon. I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to my new ‘100-year-old’ studio at the bottom of the garden.
