After studying graphic design I became a founding partner in a Cambridge-based design consultancy before going on to set up The Attic Publishing Company – designing, producing and distributing greeting cards worldwide. During this period I was involved in the Cambridge music scene, performing as lead vocalist with several local bands, and writing / recording my own material. I also studied Journalistic Writing and gained a Diploma with distinction.
The defining moment in my creative development occurred in January 2008 when, out of a combination of frustration and curiosity, I took the ‘Passion Test’. My initial scepticism was eventually quelled by the results, which guided me to follow my true passion – painting!
I now paint …because I love to!
My work is a synthesis of my personal feelings, inspired by the random, yet harmonious chemistry of nature …it is my visual memory of the world around us. I start a new painting with an emotion, which provides a vivid sense of direction, and I attempt to convey a feeling of space with no constraints. I strive to capture contrasting, yet complimentary emotions, combined with an evocative peace and solitude.
Away from work I love to run. It ‘s my space, my solitude, and my challenge. In April 2009, I completed the Flora London Marathon and raised £3,700 for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust. I will be running again next year in the 2012 Virgin London Marathon.
I live in Cambridge with my husband and two teenage sons.
